I am super excited to have been nominated for the 2017 Blogger Recognition Award by Elizabeth at Family Farm School. By the way, I encourage everyone to check her blog out, she covers some great topics.
I decided to take my blogging seriously in December of 2016 and being nominated for this award makes me excited that someone (anyone) recognizes my work. I hope that as I grow and learn more about blogging, even more people will come to recognize my work and content.
Being nominated for this award means that I have a small to-do list, so here are the rules:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
- Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated and provide the link to the post you created.
How I Got Started…
I started Little Lady in the Big World as an outlet to talk about a lot of things that were happening in my life. It was birthed from coping with “adulting” coupled with my love of career development. Since most of my experience was in Human Resouces, I knew that I wanted to help people be more employable in the whatever field that they choose. The first big task was to choose a name that described exactly who I was: a 4’11 young woman in corporate America with big dreams and even bigger kahunas to go after them – Little Lady in the Big World seemed like a perfect fit.
Not only am I interested in preparing people for the reality of the workforce, but I am also interested in helping people be more well-rounded in their lives in every area. When you feel better, you do better – I believe this applies in life and at work. So I decided to write about other subjects that peaked my interest as well.
Though I am fairly new to the world of blogging, I am coming into my own. Of course learning about SEO, mailing lists, and affiliate marketing was not at all what I was expecting, but I am so grateful that I did! Not only am I more knowledgeable in marketing, but I am growing as a person. I am so excited to share my growth everyone one posts at a time.
My Advice to New Bloggers…
For bloggers who want to take this path seriously, my first piece of advice would be to discipline yourself. I run into this all the time, but if you really want your blog to be a success, you have to set aside an allotted amount of time.
My second piece of advice is instead of comparing yourself to other bloggers, take notes. Some of the best ideas I’ve had is from some of my favorite bloggers. It really is a community, so reach out and engage with others, you would be surprised how many seasoned bloggers would be willing to give you insight on how to be successful.
